MAG&Cie v2 + MyOpenSpot: new site, new app

The MAG&Cie site gets a bold editorial redesign — serif typography, product-first — and MyOpenSpot lands on the App Store and Google Play. Why we did it, what changed, and what it says about where the studio is going.

In short: New MAG&Cie site (editorial direction, serif typography, product focus and AI). At the same time, MyOpenSpot lands on the App Store and Google Play — a map of places open around you with a "Meet up" mode to reach each other live.

Why v2

The first site spoke the 2024 language: cybersecurity front and center, dense technical vocabulary, little room for the product side. In 2026 the mix has changed:

  • More web + mobile apps. That's what drives most client conversations.
  • More integrated AI. Not demos — AI wired into real business workflows.
  • More product than before. Product leadership + design + tech, on short cycles.

V2 puts that triangle back at the center. It's not a substance rewrite: the substance is right. It's a form rewrite, so the message actually lands.

What changes visually

  • Editorial direction. Serif display (Instrument Serif) for titles, sans (Inter) for body, hairlines everywhere, old-school drop caps.
  • Paper / ink palette. Cream background, ink navy. Strong yet warm contrast.
  • Sober motion. Scroll-triggered reveals, char-by-char stagger, editorial marquee. No gimmicks.
  • Asymmetric grid. On the home page, marginalia on the left, massive headline on the right — a real magazine masthead.
  • Announcement banner. A top aside sharing the redesign + MyOpenSpot, dismissible.

MyOpenSpot: the real product news

MyOpenSpot is a mobile app that does two simple things:

  1. Find places open around you. Bakeries, pharmacies, cafés, restrooms — map, open/closed status, next hours change, favorites.
  2. Meet up easily. Share your live location with a friend or family member to reach each other. 15-, 30- or 60-minute sessions on the free tier, up to 24 hours and 5 people on Premium.

Pricing

  • Free : all core features (map, search, 3 favorites, solo "Meet up").
  • Premium yearly : 9.99 euros/year — 7-day free trial.
  • Premium lifetime : 19.99 euros — one-time payment.

Indicative prices. Actual prices are the ones shown in the app by the App Store and Google Play, in your currency and per local taxes.

What MyOpenSpot doesn't do

  • No advertising in the app.
  • No data reselling to brokers.
  • No background tracking. Geolocation on demand only.
  • No infinite feed, no engagement dark patterns.

Place data comes from OpenStreetMap (open data), enriched by the community.

What it says about where the studio is going

MAG&Cie ships its own apps on the stores. It's not just a CV item — it's proof we can:

  • Deliver end-to-end — front, back, deploy, stores, support.
  • Hold a product over time — not just a thrown-away MVP.
  • Make product trade-offs — which features stay free, which go Premium, what price.

Those are exactly the skills clients hire for on fractional CTO and product missions.

What's next

  • MyOpenSpot v1.1: advanced filters, exportable favorites, iOS widget.
  • More product posts on this blog — dev, integrated AI, mission takeaways.
  • Lirix (another in-house app) will also get its own redesign by year-end.

§ FAQ

Questions frequentes

  • Why redesign the MAG&Cie site now?
The positioning has shifted: more web + mobile app development, more integrated AI, less cybersecurity-only. The old site still spoke the 2024 language. V2 puts the product back at the center, with a clearer, more assertive editorial direction.
  • What is MyOpenSpot?
A mobile app (iOS + Android) that shows on a map the places open around you in real time, from OpenStreetMap data. A 'Meet up' mode lets you share your live location with someone you're trying to reach. Full free tier, optional Premium at 9.99 euros per year or 19.99 euros lifetime.
  • How much does MyOpenSpot Premium cost?
9.99 euros per year (with a 7-day free trial) or 19.99 euros lifetime, one-time payment. Indicative prices — actual prices are the ones shown in the app by the stores, in your currency and per your local taxes.
  • Does MyOpenSpot track my location?
No. Geolocation is only used when the app is open, on demand. No data reselling, no advertising, no background tracking. Location sharing is one-off, triggered by you, and stops automatically at the end of the session.
  • Does the site's content change too?
The substance stays: fractional CTO/CPO missions, web + mobile app development, integrated AI, product and technical leadership. What changes: visual hierarchy, vocabulary and prices displayed (1,000 euros day-rate for fractional CTO, 800 euros for app dev, fixed-fee on quote).
